ITS IMPLICATIONS
INTRODUCTION
Testing, in education and psychology is a systematic process
to measure an individual’s knowledge, intelligence, specific skills
and other personal traits. It is also to collect information about
the strengths, weakness of a student, teacher and educational
programme.
The questions, problems and tasks to be attempted are
called test item. In this unit we are going to study some basic
concepts related to psychological testing and assessment, its
validity and reliability, major areas and kinds of psychological

1. Psychological Testing
Psychological tests are used to measure a variety of attributes –
intelligence, motivation, personality traits, anxiety, special
ability etc.
❑A psychological test is an objective and standard measure of
a sample of behaviour, cognitive approach, individual
differences etc.
