This document summarizes several memory screening models used in animal studies. It describes the passive avoidance test which assesses memory by measuring how long a mouse stands on an elevated platform to avoid a foot shock. It also describes the step-through test and scopolamine-induced amnesia model in mice. Spatial memory tests are discussed, including the radial arm maze and Morris water maze. Two studies are summarized, one on hesperidin and silibinin ameliorating aluminum-induced memory deficits, and another on amyloid-β1–42 oligomers inducing memory deficits.
