Task 1: Track 1
Mark: What are you doing, Fran?
Fran: Oh. Hi Mark. I’ve just found some old family photos.
Mark: Really? Can I see?
Fran: Yeah. Look at this one. That’s my sister, Laura with our uncle, Biff.
Mark: Biff? That’s an unusual name.
Fran: Yes, his real name was John but everyone in the family called him Biff. I don’t know
why. Oh. Look at this one. This is a really old photo.
Mark: Who are they?
Fran: Well, that’s my grandfather, Walt, when he was young.
Mark: Walt? I remember him from your wedding. And who’s that with him? Is that your
grandmother, Elsie?
Fran: I don’t know. It doesn’t look like Elsie. It looks like her sister, Alice. Yes, I think it is
Alice. She’s very pretty and they’re holding hands.
Mark: Interesting! Oh, look at that one. I know who that is.
Fran: (laugh) Yes. That’s was me when I was a baby. I’m with my cousin, Shirley. I haven’t
seen her for years. Shirley was married to Dave, remember him?, the doctor but she lives in
France now with her new husband, Marcel. I think he’s a doctor, too.
