HISTORY Korea is rich in musical culture, and its music is distinctive despite tremendous influences from China.
HISTORY Evidence of these influences can presently be found in the existence of Koreanized-Chinese music called  tang-ak
HISTORY The Korean term tang-ak literally means music from T'ang Dynasty China.
Korean traditional music can be roughly divided into two major categories :
Chong-ak ; which means music for the ruling class
Sog-ak ; music for the  common people
Yayue- an elegant music  which includes ritual and ceremonial court music
Suyue-popular music Huyue-foreign music
A-ak-elegant vocal and instrumental music
Pansori- drama sung by one performer and accompanied by barrel-shaped drum

KAYAGUM Kayagum is often compared with Japanese Koto, but it is quite different from Koto in the following points:
KAYAGUM It should be placed on the lap of its player and its tail on the floor,
KAYAGUM Kayagum is played with bare fingers.
SENAP A wind instrument with a copper-made trumpet attached to the wooden tube.
