• It is the stress that comes
from schooling and
education.
• Often a lot of pressure
that comes along with
pursuing a degree and
one's education.
• Academic stress is especially
hard on college students who
are often living away from home
for the first time.
 Parental Expectations
 Forced to study specific subjects
.i.e. by parents or relatives.
 Fear of Failure
 Grades as seen as the most
important part of life.
 Isuues with Time Mangement
Some Parents are at their
children’s back, daily pushing
them to excel academically.
Parental pressures to pursue
academics success have both
positive and negative effects
on their children.
This usually happens because
educating a child is now
considered as an investment
for their better future.
Forced to study specific subjects
.i.e. by parents or relatives
1) Parents want their children to work
in a profession in which they have a
good chance of succeeding
economically. They feel that the
social sciences and arts in general
donot offer as much potential for
financial success as do engineering,
medicine, business and law.
2) And they are right to some extent.
However, many young people do not
place the same priority on getting a
high salary as their parents do. They
might be more interested in a lower
paying career that matches their
interests.
Students want to get
that ‘A’ so
desparetly that they
sacrifice their
creativity and
choose the easy
way out simply to
get a better grade.
Fear of Failure
They come to prefer
easier tasks not
because they are lazy,
but because they are
rational.
After all, if the
point is to get an A,
your odds are
better if you avoid
taking intellectual
risks”
Issues with Time
Management• External forces also
create academic
pressure. Many of us
fail in the subject of
time management
and excel at
procrastination.
• The cure requires
dedication and
commitment.
• Rarely, student feels
that excelling in
sports is a higher
priority than
education.
Students begin to think of
themselves as nothing more than
test score, and they lose sight of
the actual purpose:
“LEARNING”

thoughts about the education and
their life.

invent a new wheel or better yet, a new
“FACEBOOK”, the only way to stand out is
through academics.
