How messaging preferences work

When you click Edit on a message draft that Sales Assistant generates, a messaging preferences pane appears on the right.

Messaging preferences in Sales Assistant

To help Sales Assistant capture your messaging preferences, refine your message draft. You can:

  • Edit the message draft directly.
  • Select a different option below Message goal.
  • Click a pre-written style recommendation button below Suggested.
  • Give Sales Assistant custom guidance in the Instructions box to reflect your personal style. Try adding preferences for your writing style, salutation (greeting), call to action, and signature. For example, you can tell Sales Assistant to customize your preferred word choice, message length, tone, and specific formatting.

Important to know

Keep in mind that the messaging preferences Instructions box may appear when you draft InMails in other parts of Sales Navigator, but messaging preferences only function within Sales Assistant.

View and adjust your messaging preferences

As you continue to use Sales Assistant to draft first-touch messages to leads, keep refining your messaging preferences:

  • Sales Assistant can save up to 20 messaging preferences, which you can view or remove from your Sales Assistant Message preferences settings on desktop.
  • To add new preferences or adjust existing preferences, continue to give Sales Assistant messaging instructions as you edit the drafts it generates.

Turn messaging preferences on or off as a user

You can turn messaging preferences on or off at any time from your Privacy and data settings by turning the Learn from message edits toggle on or off. If you turn off messaging preferences, your existing preferences won't be applied to new messages, and Sales Assistant will stop saving new preferences. If your admin has turned off Sales Assistant for your account, messaging preferences can’t be turned on.

Manage user access to messaging preferences as an admin

By default, messaging preferences are available to all users on your account if Sales Assistant is turned on. Users on your account can turn messaging preferences on or off at any time from their settings. To turn off messaging preferences for users on your account, you’ll need to turn off Sales Assistant from your admin settings.
