Edit user attributes in bulk via CSV in Recruiter

Last updated: 4 weeks ago

As a Product Settings and Account Center Admin on your LinkedIn Recruiter contract, you can edit attributes of users’ enterprise profiles in bulk in LinkedIn Admin Center. This includes the users’ email address, first name, last name, phone number, and more. This doesn't affect their personal LinkedIn profiles.

Important to know

If you are trying to perform bulk actions on more than 2,000 users, to avoid long upload times, use one of the following methods: CSV uploads or Groups (segment users into separate sections and take bulk actions on them).

We recommend assigning each user a unique ID so if users have identical first and last names, you can update information for the correct user when you perform bulk actions using a CSV.

Here’s a summary of the steps to edit user attributes:

  • Download the CSV file for editing.
  • Make the necessary updates in the CSV file and save it to your device.
  • Upload the updated CSV file to process the changes.

To edit users’ attributes in bulk via CSV:

  1. Move your cursor over your profile picture at the top of your Recruiter homepage and select Manage users in Admin Center from the dropdown menu.

  2. In LinkedIn Admin Center, click Manage users via CSV and select Download all users via CSV from the dropdown.

  3. In the User attributes box, add the Unique user ID attribute plus additional attributes you'd like to edit.

  4. Filter by licenses, permissions, and attributes by clicking in the box and selecting from the dropdown to download specific users.

  5. Click Download CSV. A copy of your user list and customized fields will be exported.

  6. Edit the attributes in the CSV file. Each CSV file must meet specific formatting requirements to upload successfully.

    Important to know

If you update email addresses (such as work email addresses), we’ll send an invitation email to prompt inactive users to activate their license. Active users won’t receive an invitation email.

  7. Save the file as a CSV file type on your device.
  8. Return to the Users tab in LinkedIn Admin Center.

  9. Click Manage users via CSV  and select Upload CSV file.

  10. Click Upload CSV.

  11. Select your CSV file to upload. The upload will begin immediately.

    Important to know

Learn what to do if you receive a duplicate profile error.

A confirmation message will appear to verify that your upload was successful. You can verify the updates by viewing the user’s enterprise profile or by downloading a new CSV file.
