Create video ads for Classic ad sets in Campaign Manager

Last updated: 2 weeks ago

Video ads appear directly in the LinkedIn feed and on the LinkedIn Audience Network. You can sponsor posts with videos from your LinkedIn Page or you can create new video ads in Campaign Manager.

Here's a tip

If you'd like to reuse previously created ads or select from your organic LinkedIn Page posts, you can browse from your existing content instead of creating a new ad.

Step 1: Make sure you have the correct permissions

To create a video ad, you must have super admin, content admin, or Sponsored Content poster access on your ad account's Page and creative manager access or higher on your ad account.

Step 2: Create an ad set

Before you can create your ads, you must first create an ad set. Your ad set includes settings that help determine who your ads are shown to, where your ads are shown, and how much your ads can spend.

To create new video ads:

Step 3: Create a new video ad

To create a new video ad:

  1. On the Ads in this ad set page in Campaign Manager, click the Create new ad(s) button..

  2. Enter a name for your ad. The name only appears in Campaign Manager.

  3. Add Introductory text.

  4. Click the Upload or select button to choose a video for your ad.

    • To upload an .SRT format file for video captions, click the Upload file button. Only English video captions are currently supported.
  5. Add a Headline, Destination URL, and Call-to-action button. For the destination URL, keep in mind:

    • URLs must have the "http://" "or “https://" prefix.
    • If you add URL parameters for third-party tracking, don’t use quotation mark characters within the parameter settings to avoid technical errors with reaching your destination URL.
    • Some special characters (for example: < > # % { } [ ] and others) cause errors when they're included in the query string at the end of the URL. Even if unsafe characters are accepted, they may not be supported in all browsers. If your URL generates an error, copy everything after the question mark into the URL and paste it into a URL encoder like this one: http://meyerweb.com/eric/tools/dencoder/. Then, copy your results and replace the original query string in the URL. This should resolve the issue.
  6. If you selected lead generation as your ad set objective, complete the Form details section.

    • Use the dropdown menus to select a Call-to-action button and Form. You can select a previously created Lead Gen Form or create a new Lead Gen Form.
  7. Click the Save ad button in the lower-right corner.

    • Ensure the Add to ad set checkbox is selected to add your new ad to the current ad set.

When you’re ready, you can launch your new ad set or save changes to an existing ad set. Your ads will be reviewed and, if approved, are displayed based on the settings of your ad set.
