I've set goals and failed to achieve them. I've written down goals and never hit them (here is why). - I didn't integrate my goals into my daily activities. - I didn't make my goals smart ( it was a wish list). If you write goals more like a wish list, here is what happens... - Unimportant tasks will take priority. - You won't have daily actions to move you closer to your goals. - Your action taking will be inconsistent / make it up as you go along. But there is something worse... You'll lose confidence in achieving your goals. It will create doubt. You'll have a sneaking suspicion your goals are impossible. It becomes a vicious circle. You don't take the goals seriously, so you fail to hit them. You doubt the goal is possible, so you don't want to put effort into them. It's vicious circle that confirms you can't achieve your goals. BUT if you do want to hit your goals, you need to make them smart. You need SMART goals - goals that are clear and actionable. SPECIFIC - MEASURABLE - ACTIONABLE - RELEVANT - TIME-BASED Write down your SMART goals. Then diarise the actions you need to take. Example: Specific: Get more leads per week from social media. Measurable: 4 Leads per week. Actionable: Posting 3 times per week, grow my network, offering a lead magnet to new connections. Relevant: More connections will increase my reach, leads will help me win clients. Time-bound: By 7th May 2024, I'll be getting 4 leads per week. SMART goals are the way to achieve things. Set your goals, make them SMART and work on them every day.

Three years ago, I set an ambitious goal for my business. I was energized, motivated - and completely overwhelmed. I didn’t know where to start or how to turn my vision into reality. That’s when I stumbled upon the magic of a 90-day action plan. It transformed how I approached growth, and today, It’s a cornerstone of my strategy. Here’s how I break it down: Step 1: Define your destination. What does success look like at the end of 90 days? Be specific: “Increase revenue by 15%” or “Launch a new service.” A vague goal won’t guide you. Step 2: Break it into milestones. Divide your big goal into 3 monthly targets. For instance, Month 1 might focus on research, Month 2 on execution, and Month 3 on refinement. Step 3: Create weekly sprints. Each week, list 3-5 actionable tasks that move you closer to your monthly milestone. Keep them manageable and measurable. Step 4: Evaluate and adjust. Every Friday, review your progress. Knowing movement is important, I once set the typical goal to walk 10k steps a day, but it actually backfired, discouraging me to the point of walking less. Here’s what I learned: It is commonly recommended to "Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars." 𝐈𝐧 𝐦𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐞, 𝐈 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐨𝐧, 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐭 𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞. For me, 10k steps was such an ambitious goal that it felt unattainable, and I ended up getting discouraged and walking even less. So, I tried a different approach: 1️⃣ 𝐒𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐆𝐨𝐚𝐥𝐬: Aimed for a more attainable goal as a 10-20% increase to my current reality. 2️⃣ 𝐒𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬: Turned goals into daily habits, like walking after meals or having walking meetings. 3️⃣ 𝐏𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐄𝐧𝐣𝐨𝐲𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬: Linking a task that wasn't appealing at first with enjoyable ones, like listening to a podcast or walking to your favorite coffee shop. 4️⃣ 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬: Using a fitness tracker to measure daily movement.
