How I would go about finding a summer role as an international student First, you need to know it’s not too late to find a summer internship! I know how challenging it can be to find an internship as an international student, but with the right strategy and a proactive approach, you can still land a role. Here’s how I’d go about it: 1️⃣ 𝐈𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 Not all companies can or will sponsor visas, so start by targeting those that do. Use platforms like: ⭐ MyVisaJobs.com (for sponsorship trends) - https://lnkd.in/eC7W8BsuH1BGrader (to check past sponsorships) - https://h1bgrader.com/Simplify and Handshake (filter for visa-friendly employers) - https://lnkd.in/eveZBcg2FrogHire.ai (helps international students find companies open to sponsorship) - https://lnkd.in/eEubGzFR 2️⃣ 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 & 𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 Many roles have rolling deadlines, so apply ASAP! Don’t wait to mass apply. Apply within 7 days of the job posting going up. It’s not a hard rule, but it’s a good way to stay competitive. 3️⃣ 𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐬 & 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 Your friend group can be a great resource for job leads and company insights. Back in college, my friends and I would recommend each other to recruiters and share our knowledge of companies that sponsored international students. If you don’t know someone at the company yet, a warm referral can really help your application stand out. 4️⃣ 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 & 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 ⭐ Engage with company recruiters on LinkedIn. ⭐ Find professionals in your field (working for the company of interest) and ask for informational interviews. ⭐ Join community centered or professional networking groups like ColorStack for additional support. 5️⃣ 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 If traditional internships are limited, consider: ⭐ Research assistant roles at your university or other universities. ⭐ Micro-internships with Parker Dewey - https://lnkd.in/ekQxh6_E. ⭐ Summer research programs. See list here: https://lnkd.in/eJWieBN9 To get you started, here are some non-FAANG companies known to hire international students:  🌸 Salesforce 🌸 Bandwidth Inc. 🌸 Eli Lilly and Company 🌸 EBSCO Information Services 🌸 Cisco 🌸 EY 🌸 Deloitte 🌸 Dell Technologies 🌸 HubSpot 🌸 Duolingo 🌸 IBM 🌸 Slack 🌸 Amgen 🌸 The Home Depot 🌸 ServiceNow 🌸 DEKA Research & Development You can also follow Put Me On to see new roles that opened recently. 💬 If you know other companies open to hiring international students, drop them in the comments. You never know who you’ll be helping. If you’re an international student still searching, don’t get discouraged! Roles keep opening daily. Stay proactive and remember, I’m rooting for you 💙 #putmeon #internationalstudent #hiring #internships #college #studentsoflinkedin #jobs

Navigating the Co-op and Internship Journey: Insights from My Experience As a current international master's student, I often receive messages from fellow students seeking tips on landing co-ops and internships. Having navigated this journey myself, securing two on-campus jobs and a co-op, I'd like to share some insights that have proven invaluable. 1. Leverage Your Unique Journey: If you arrived in the U.S. without prior experience, showcase any internship background, academic projects, or skillsets developed during your master's program. Your unique journey is a strength – highlight it to potential employers. 2. Gain Industry Experience: Consider taking on unpaid projects to build practical industry experience. This not only enhances your skill set but also demonstrates your commitment to gaining hands-on knowledge. 3. Optimize Your Resume: Have your resume reviewed by professionals in your industry. Constructive feedback from those with industry experience can significantly improve the impact of your resume. 4. Continuous Skill Enhancement: Invest time in certification courses and utilize university resources to enhance your knowledge. While others may have more experience, your unique skill set can make you stand out – focus on honing it. 5. Network with Purpose: Attend conferences and networking events to connect with industry professionals. Remember, it's not just about immediate favors; it's about building long-term relationships. Demonstrate genuine interest in learning from others, share common interests, and cultivate meaningful connections that will prove beneficial in the long run. In Conclusion: The journey to securing co-ops and internships can be challenging, especially as an international student. However, by leveraging your unique experiences, gaining practical knowledge, optimizing your resume, continuously enhancing your skills, and building meaningful connections, you can navigate this path successfully. 🗣️ Let's Discuss: I'd love to hear about your experiences and challenges in landing co-ops or internships. Feel free to share your journey, ask questions, or discuss any hurdles you're facing. Let's create a supportive space for knowledge exchange and mutual growth. Your insights and discussions may inspire others on a similar path. Remember, we're all in this together! 🌍💬

I am feeling grateful to be able to help. I’ve been reviewing resumes, answering DMs, and helping international students fix small mistakes that actually make a BIG difference. If you messaged me, I appreciate your patience—I’ll get back to you soon for sure! But one question keeps coming up over and over again: 👉 “𝗪𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗙-𝟭 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀?” Many students apply everywhere, hoping something will work. Sometimes it does, but it’s not a good strategy. Some companies have already hired international students—and that’s where you should focus. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗽𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: • Grow Therapy – Healthcare (Top LinkedIn Startup) • GlossGenius – Tech/Business • Thirty Madison – Healthcare • ConcertoCare – Healthcare • Kalshi – Finance • Ethic – Finance • Antora Energy – Industrial Machinery & Manufacturing • Olo – Tech • Flatiron Health – Healthcare • Dataminr – AI/Tech • Betterment – Finance • Ramp – Finance/Tech (Top LinkedIn Startup) • Duolingo – EdTech • Ginkgo Bioworks – Biotech • ActiveFence – Cybersecurity • Altana AI – AI for Supply Chain • CertiK – Blockchain Security • Wunderkind – AdTech/MarTech • Delve – AI & Software Development • Anterior – Healthcare These companies 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀, 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗼 𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻. 📌𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁? ✔ 𝗕𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰. I’m thinking of creating a post about common mistakes I’ve seen in the resumes I’ve reviewed. 𝗪𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽𝗳𝘂𝗹? Let me know The job search can feel overwhelming, but there ARE companies that value your skills. Stay focused, be patient, and apply with a strategy.  𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲: I’m not the hiring manager for these companies. This list is based on my research and companies that have hired international students before. Always check their latest job postings and connect with employees inside. I might be wrong, but from what I’ve found, these companies have supported visa sponsorships in the past.

🌎 International students, here’s what really makes a difference when you’re trying to start your career in the U.S. 🇺🇸 I’ve spoken with hundreds of international students over the past year, and I keep seeing the same challenges come up. Most students work hard, but don’t always focus on the right things that help them stand out to employers. Here are three things that can completely change your chances of landing an internship or job after graduation: 1️⃣ Build real experience and show how your global background adds value. Even if it’s through internships, volunteering, or university projects, employers want to see proof that you can contribute. Your international perspective is a strength . Learn how to tell that story on your resume, show how your experience abroad gives you adaptability, cross-cultural understanding, and problem-solving skills. ✈️ 2️⃣ Understand your work authorization and learn how to explain it clearly. Many recruiters simply don’t know what OPT or CPT means. You don’t need to over-explain or sound defensive, instead, be confident. For example: “I’m currently on an F-1 visa with full work authorization for 12 months after graduation, and I’m eligible for a 24 month STEM extension.” When you can explain your status in a simple, positive way, you build trust and confidence immediately. 🎯 3️⃣ Apply to the right jobs, the ones that are open to international students. Too many talented students waste time applying to companies that can’t hire them. That’s why we built Northbridge, a platform made for international students that combines a verified job board, connections with trusted immigration experts, and clear visa guides to help you find real opportunities and connect with employers who value global talent. I’ve been in your shoes and now I’m helping students across the country take control of their U.S. career journey. Let’s make your next step count. 💼 Start today at Northbridge
