    There’s a quiet kind of power in mentorship that most people overlook. Not the kind that makes noise or claims credit, but the kind that opens a door, clears the fog, or hands someone the language they didn’t know they needed. Antar is an emerging music producer I crossed paths with recently. 
He had the raw skill, the sonic instinct, the kind of discipline you can’t teach. But like many emerging creatives, he was caught in that in-between space; talented enough to be seen, but unclear on how to move. Where to step. Who to speak to. What to lead with. We spoke. I listened. I shared what I’ve learned from navigating my own path; what no one teaches you about rhythm, not just musically, but professionally. 
How to show up with purpose.
How to build without begging.
How to make space for yourself in a room that wasn’t built for you. Soon after, Antar was in studio with one of the top rap artists in Egypt. Not because I gave him a shortcut.
But because he was already holding the map. He just needed someone to help unfold it. That’s what mentorship is.
It’s not giving someone a shortcut. 
It’s helping them find the path they already had the legs for. In a world obsessed with visibility, we underestimate the role of the person who whispers, “You’re ready” before the world notices. We talk a lot about creators. We don’t talk enough about the ones who nudge something real into motion. If I’ve learned anything from being mentored and mentoring others, it’s this:
You don’t lose anything by pouring into someone. 
You just multiply what you’ve lived through. And maybe mentorship isn’t about changing someone’s life.

Similarly, as a mentor, I’ve had the privilege of helping others overcome roadblocks, sharpen their problem-solving abilities, and step into leadership roles confidently. Why is mentorship so powerful? Because it’s not just about technical skills—it’s about perspective, emotional resilience, and strategic thinking. Imagine a junior engineer receiving feedback on how to frame an idea to leadership or a team lead navigating tough decisions with the guidance of someone who’s been in their shoes. Those moments are transformative. How to Start Your Mentorship Journey: • Finding a mentor: Look for someone whose strengths align with your areas for growth. Don’t be afraid to reach out; mentorship often starts with a simple, honest conversation. • Offering mentorship: You don’t need to have decades of experience to mentor. Over the years, I’ve seen the transformative power of mentorship first-hand. For example, I worked with an engineer transitioning to a more senior role, helping them identify opportunities to improve team processes. Their initiative led to measurable efficiency gains and recognition from leadership. In another case, I supported a junior engineer struggling with ambiguous requirements. By teaching them frameworks to break down complex problems, they became more effective and confident, increasing their autonomy and impact.
