Forward email with care
- [Instructor] Forwarding email is an easy way to include new people in a conversation, but because it's so easy, it can also cause some problems. Forwarding email poses confidentiality risks, for example. if you're forwarding a long email chain to a new person, consider whether that new person really needs to see the past 28 messages in the thread, and should they have access to the contact information of every person in every previous message in the thread? If not, delete the unnecessary information before forwarding. Not only does this help preserve confidentiality, your emails will be less overwhelming because your recipients won't be wondering whether you actually want them to read the entire history of the conversation.
