- [Instructor] Understanding the concept of availability zones is very important when you're rolling out resources to be hosted at AWS. Explore California is going to use Northern California as their primary region. Let's see how many availability zones are currently available for Northern California. To do this, we'll go over to the EC2 console in Northern California, and we'll select the dashboard, and we can see that at this point in time we have two availability zones in Northern California. We can click enable additional zones, but at this point we only have the two availability zones. Now that's okay, 'cause that's what they want for the time being, having two availability zones. Now, what could they do with these zones if they were going to say deploy a database? So let's go over to RDS.
