From the course: The Art of Rotoscoping

What is rotoscoping?

- I was 15 years old when I saw this video, "Take On Me" by a-ha. I remember it blew my mind. It was groundbreaking at the time and still holds to this day. It was done using a technique called rotoscoping. To achieve that, you need to trace over video footage frame by frame, or you can use a variety of digital tools to create art-like moving media. In this course, I'll show you how rotoscoping works using the building tools in Photoshop and After Effects, as well as a handful of third-party effect that can help you with the process and automate your results. We'll use rotoscoping to tell a story but also to isolate part of the video from the background for compositing and visual effects work. My name is Eran Stern. I'm a veteran motion graphics artist with more than 25 years under my belt. I'm here to share what I've learned and help you to turn your videos into work of art. Join me in this LinkedIn Learning course to learn all about the art of rotoscoping.
