- We've been talking a lot about ideation in this course, and specifically about rapid ideation, how to generate more ideas faster. I introduced you to the four rules of rapid ideation: breakneck timeboxing, quantity over quality, no judgment, and approaching your ideation with a positive, reckless abandon. I gave you the three requirements for any ideation. Since creativity is problem solving with relevance and novelty, you have to have a problem to solve to generate an idea for how to solve it. You need the energy to engage in a purposeful process, and you need to be able to give that process your full, undivided attention. I offered up the difference between traditional ideation and rapid ideation, which is an intentional separation of the divergent thinking and convergent thinking processes so that you can focus on the right mindset, on the right task, without bouncing back and forth between different head spaces.…
