- [Instructor] Rather than waiting for regulations, why not use data classification to build an efficient governance regime? Let me explain. Many government regulations are driven by a desire to help consumers who feel disempowered by large companies. Other government regulations are driven by a desire to help their companies become more competitive globally when it comes to raising money, monetizing data, and innovating with technology. Given the chaotic world we live in, it would be risky to wait for regulations to offer clarity on how to innovate in areas like gen AI, quantum computing, cloud processing, et cetera. Additionally, some regulations even driving remediation of past mistakes, while others even preventing future mistakes. This is hardly a recipe for clarity and efficiency.
