- [Instructor] You've seen converting an image to black and white in Lightroom. Now we're going to take a stab at it in Photoshop. As I mentioned earlier, there are many, many ways to convert an image to black and white. What you're going to see here probably have analogs in an other image editor if you're using something besides Photoshop. First of all, in Photoshop, all images have a mode designation. This shows the color model that is being used to store the image. By default, your images come out of your camera in an RGB color model, which means each pixel is represented by a mix of red, green, and blue values. You could change this to pixels represented by cyan, magenta, yellow, and black values, which are what you need If you're going to print on an offset press. There are other models, and if we switch from RGB to Grayscale, we will get this message saying, "Discard color information?" We're going to say yes, and when we do that, we get this black and white image. Now, RGB…
