RAN deployment scenarios during evolution
(bright music) - [Instructor] Imagine trying to renovate your entire house in one go. You're ripping out the walls, replacing plumbing, and rewiring electricity all at once. It is chaotic and expensive and full of risk. Telecom operators face a similar dilemma with Open RAN. A complete network overhaul isn't practical or safe. Instead, they are modernizing piece by piece, testing functionality and performance along the way. Now, there are two different deployment approaches for Open RAN, starting with the Distributed RAN, where both centralized and distributed unit stay at the cell site, but they're virtualized. Now here, same hardware can run multiple software functions. It is like a smartphone switching between different apps. So you have a hardware which can function as a centralized unit or it can function as a distributed unit. So it can save the cost because we need not to manage different spare parts for different functions. It can reduce the inventory maybe by 30 to 40%. Also,…
