- For many years, if you wanted to include illustrations on your website or in other marketing materials, you had two choices. One, you could use the incredibly cheesy clip art, that came with Microsoft Office among other sources or two, you hired an artist to make custom illustrations for you. With a bad choice and an expensive choice. Marketing teams used stock photography for years to enhance their sites, ignoring illustrations as an option, for website design elements. However, in recent years, we've seen several changes happen with illustrations. One, illustrations may be displayed directly on the web as an SVG file or scalable vector graphic.
