From the course: Mistakes to Avoid in Agile Project Management
Getting started
- If you were just made an agile project manager, you may feel like you were just thrown into a pool of alligators with no way to get on shore. There's little or no formal training or mentorship for early agile PMs, and there often isn't even an agreement about what the job entails. The good news is that by taking this course, you'll get that information and the support you need to escape the alligators and many pitfalls of agile management. My name is Michael De La Maza. I have a PhD in Computer Science from MIT, and I'm one of approximately 100 Scrum Alliance Certified Enterprise coaches. In this course, I want to help you start your career as an agile project manager with a bang. I want you to have the confidence and skill you need to do this job well. To do that, I'll walk you through the most common mistakes, new agile leaders make, and exactly how to avoid them. I'll share with you how to collaborate and align with management and with other teams. I'll also walk you through the key practices that thousands of successful teams have implemented. I'll show you what metrics to track, and finally how to manage the workload so that both stakeholders and your team members are happy. Being an agile project manager can be the best of both worlds or the worst. By taking this course, you've made the decision to invest in your career so you end up on the right side of that equation. So are you ready? Let's go.
