Bumps and normal maps

- [Instructor] When you create materials for surfaces that are rough, you may want to use either bump or normal mapping. So let's take a look at those. Here I have two objects, I'm going to select both of them. Right click, assign favorite material, OpenPBR surface. And what we want to do is we want to make these a little bit rough. So I'm going to go ahead and turn on Arnold. And let's, actually, I'm going to give this surface a little bit of color. So I'm going to go ahead and maybe give it kind of a pale grayish blue or something like that just so we can see it a little bit more. Now, in order to create a bump or a normal map, we go down to geometry and we have a slot here called bump mapping. So I'm going to go ahead and click on this checkerboard. We're going to add a file into that. And then it brings us into this menu here, which gives us the bump value and the bump depth. Now the bump value is already connected. We click on that and there's where we can insert our file name…
