Creating personal brand content on LinkedIn
With so many choices on LinkedIn, picking a format for your personal brand content can be overwhelming. I'm here to guide you through the content types besides video available to you on LinkedIn. The first are polls. Polls allow you to ask your LinkedIn connections for the responses on any topic. You can ask your audience for their opinion on something, share a silly icebreaker question, or solicit feedback on a new product or service. Another type is documents. Documents are a powerful way to get your content in the hands of prospects. Not only can your audience view a document, they can download it onto their computers to read or share later. Here are some ideas for documents. Checklists are super popular among busy professionals because they're a quick and easy way to monitor progress on tasks by checking off what's complete. Similarly, templates help your audience accomplish a task faster by offering a model of success that they can follow. Or turn a popular blog post into a PDF that your audience can save and even print if they prefer to hold information in their hands. Now, what if you don't want to create daily content and prefer sitting down on a weekly or monthly basis to write intentionally? There are two options. Newsletters provide regular touchpoints for your subscribers, while articles allow for one-off deep dives into topics you're passionate about. They can both powerfully showcase your expertise and elevate your personal brand on LinkedIn. To create a newsletter, you need to meet certain criteria. First, you must have creator mode activated on your profile. Next, you must have an audience base of more than 150 followers or connections, recent shares on LinkedIn of any type of original content, and a history of abiding by LinkedIn's professional community policies and good standing on LinkedIn. To create a newsletter, click "Write article" below the share box near the top of your homepage. Click the "Manage" dropdown near the upper right. If you have access to newsletters, you'll see the Create newsletter option here. Choose a newsletter title, how often you want to publish additions, a description, and add a 300 by 300-pixel logo or photo. And when you're ready to launch it, click "Done." Here are some best practices for growing your subscriptions. Upload a cover image with each edition. Photos with faces are best at hooking readers attention. Be as clear as possible when writing your headline. Let your audience know what to expect. Always add an SEO title and description to control how it shows up in search engine results. And lastly, be consistent. Choose a cadence that works best for you and stick to it. So whether you're a daily content creator or prefer to sit down and take your time with longer-form content, LinkedIn's got you covered. Explore what's available and choose a format that feels right for you.
