- [Instructor] A web browser is the most common portal to the internet. In this segment, we'll learn some of the most common threats to our privacy and ways to reduce risk while browsing the web. A private or privacy browser limits exposure of your search history, minimizes web tracking, and some can conceal your location or IP address. When using a browser to interact on the web, we assume that there's an acceptable level of privacy to protect our information and browsing patterns. However, not all browsers are the same. Even while casually browsing, your privacy can be compromised. Some websites have methods to track your behavior and monitor what you have searched and what sites you have visited. In addition, some browsers can communicate with one another about your search history, so the information shows up on the next site you visit in the form of an advertisement.
