Original content versus markups
- [Instructor] Let's go over the difference between editing a PDF document and marking up a PDF document. Two of the things that make the PDF file format nice for sharing everything from plans and specs to contracts and details is that it's become a fairly universal file format and it locks the content onto the page, and makes it difficult to alter that original document. So an architect can create a set of construction drawings or blueprints in something like AutoCAD, export it as a PDF file and send it out to the construction team. From there, there are lots of programs that you can use to view the PDF document. In fact, you can open and view PDF files in many web browsers, which is what you see here, but all you can really do is view the document. There are no tools for doing anything else. That's where review really enters the picture. First, it has some limited ability to edit the actual PDF content, as long as the person that created the document hasn't locked it to prevent…
