- Top companies say you're going to need to make your diversity strategy local not just global. Let's talk about how to do it. It's obvious that your employees need to understand the values of the host country. And this means hiring talent from the host country first so that you understand the nuances of culture and can drive a hiring plan that's aligned with the local customs. Just speaking legally, it's likely you're going to have to adapt your diversity approach to some extent when you're running operations in another country. So what's the best way to do this? My big recommendation is to establish a local diversity council. The council will have a good understanding of local culture and practices, and they can provide recommendations for how your company should adopt your strategy for this given region. The local diversity council may point out how the recruiting strategy or selection metrics will need to change.…
