- [Instructor] The Law Professor Lawrence Lessig famously warned that computer code is law. He said our liberty could be redefined by software and technology, that challenge becomes even more pronounced when code starts writing itself. Generative AI systems should reflect our shared values. You shouldn't think of these new systems like gravity, which pulls against our will, or laws that are etched in marble. Instead, remember that each time we interact with these systems, we train it on our values. That's why these systems can reflect and amplify everything good and bad about us. This is very important with privacy and generative AI systems. Remember that these systems train themselves on massive amounts of unstructured data, they can feast on the data that you and billions of others create.
