Who is portfolio management for? Part 2
For now, I'm going to spotlight the most important aspects of the role that you need to have a firm understanding of. First and foremost, you must be willing to take risks, because portfolio management is the type of job where you will regularly take responsibility for the trades that you do put on, as well as the ones that you choose to forego. Second, you absolutely must be comfortable with the unknown. Guaranteed, you are not going to be very happy if you need perfect information to make every decision, and almost certainly, you will not make any profits if you do. Third, you must be willing to adapt. You need to be willing to change your opinion as the facts change. You often need to be comfortable with disagreeing with the views of other people or current prices in the market. After all, it is hard to outperform if all you can do is agree with the prices that you observe.
