Planning your drone flight

Planning your drone flight

- [Instructor] The 2D output products in Drone2Map benefit most from higher-quality, well-structured flights. Adding in ground control points and regular control points will also improve your results for True Ortho creation. For projects that I run, I like to use flight planning software to help direct my flight. Flight software can allow you to preplan your flight coverage area, guarantee overlap on your images, the pattern of your actual flight, and it can also keep your camera at 90 degrees overhead at the basic same altitude. Let's go ahead and close this image viewer, and I'll right-click here on the one that I chose and I'll clear it. There we go. So here, you can see my flight lines and the consistency of my drone camera captures that enabled at least 70% overlap of all of my images on this project, which is important for the creation of stereoscopic views that render 3D results from these kinds of drone flights. If I flew this manually, I'd have inconsistent results, probably…
