Building patterns using a bounding box

- [Instructor] In this movie, we'll start creating our pattern design in vector form, using simple build methods and with the assistance of the bounding box. This is best shown than explained, so let's get started. So I mentioned bounding box in the previous movie and now I'm going to really reinforce it here. Within Adobe illustrator when you create patterns, it doesn't matter what the shape in your pattern is, all patterns use a 90 degree tile shape to repeat the pattern. I'm calling it a bounding box because that's the principle I use that is to create the pattern. And we're going to cover that thoroughly throughout this course, but it has to be 90 degrees. Now there's other tile shapes in the world of patterns such as parallelogram but those aren't supported by Adobe illustrators.
