- I once worked with a millennial business owner who was having the toughest time retaining his employees. As he described it, "I get these great young people. They do really good work for about six weeks, and then they all quit." To him, it was baffling. To me, it was a clear case of not fully understanding and working with the characteristics and motivation of his gen-Z employees. Successfully working through differences in the workplace, regardless of their origin, requires both patients and knowledge. In this lesson, I want to share some of the younger generations needs and motivations so that you can meet these needs and retain your hardworking employees.
