- I remember when I enrolled in my doctoral program, I was so nervous. I was unsure if I really had what it took to perform at that level. And when I got my dissertation back with more than 150 suggestions for improvement, my internal narrative was "Maybe I shouldn't be in the program." Narratives are internal stories we tell ourselves and they are powerful. What we say to ourselves can influence how we feel about ourselves, our actions and even our decision making. In my case, feedback was at the height of it all.
