- One of the hallmarks of good communication is knowing how much information to share while explaining your perspective. Your goal is to influence the executive in the manner that they want. In our last video, I asked you to assess the quantity of information that your executive needs to make a decision. Now's the time to get your Guide to Your Executive and plot the strategy for your next report or presentation. If your executive is like Jonah and only wants enough information to make a decision, here are some tips to consider. Share information at the 50,000 foot level. Too much data will frustrate this executive. Get to the point quickly and be sure to report the most important information first. Share only the most meaningful data and if the executive's eyes start to glaze over, it's a sign you've gone too deep. Jonah used to joke that too much information gave him a rash.
