Using the exercise files
- [Instructor] The sample construction drawings that I'm going to use throughout this course are the digital versions of what I have here. Now, the digital version of these drawings is in a PDF format and it's located in the Exercise Files folder. Now, the PDF format's a common open source format and there are many software programs out there that can open this file. So throughout this course, I'm going to view and point to things in these drawings using a program called Bluebeam Revu and that's a PDF program that's commonly used throughout the construction industry, but you can also open these example files using any number of software programs that you might also already have, including Adobe Acrobat or Acrobat Reader and even the PDF reader that's built into many versions of Windows. If we look at that here, we see this is called Microsoft Reader and it may already be on your computer or you might be able to go retrieve it from the Windows app store. Now the nice thing about these digital drawings and about using a standard open format like the PDF format is that these drawings might have been created using any number of proprietary software programs to create them, but once they get converted to PDF and sent to us, we can all use what we have to open and read them.
