- I remember the first computer I built. I had no clue what I was doing. I didn't know the different components and how everything connected together. Several years later, I decided to go get A+ certified, and I became well aware of the different components and what they do and how they connect. Every computer, laptops, tablets, desktops, have the same basic parts. Motherboards, power supplies, memory, input output connections, and a case. There are several different types of computer cases out there, but the two primary ones we're going to focus on right now is open cases and closed cases. Closed cases come in four sizes, full tower, mid tower, mini tower, and small form factor. These form factor sizes are standardized in size, shape, and specification for hardware components to ensure compatibility.
