- Before we jump into this episode on troubleshooting data storage drives, we need to talk about an absolutely vital, essential, lifesaving, and perhaps job-saving step you should do before starting any diagnostics or troubleshooting actions on a data storage drive. Back it up. Make a backup of everything stored on the device that you'll be working on. Trust me, the data on that device is likely way more valuable than the storage device itself, and anyone who might lose the data. So make a backup. Okay, just had to get that out of the way. Now let's look at the common symptoms of storage devices and RAID arrays.
