(bright music) - [Instructor] One of the most common tasks we're going to be performing as network professionals is troubleshooting and troubleshooting can be stressful. The longer this system is down, the more money the company is losing. It can be emotional. We might have users that are upset because they cannot do their job. So instead of getting caught up in all of the urgency and emotion involved in troubleshooting, I think we can approach the troubleshooting task much more effectively if we don't just go in and haphazardly change this, that, and the other thing. It's better if we go in with a plan of action and Cisco gives us a seven-step troubleshooting methodology that we can use for just about anything. Troubleshooting our network to troubleshooting our television at home. And a step one is to clearly define the problem.
