Lab setup
- [Instructor] Let's talk for a moment about your lab setup and the resources that will help you best prepare for the AZ-700 exam. Bear in mind, AZ-700 is a deeply technical, hands-on exam. It demands design expertise as well as implementation knowledge, so a lab environment is an essential component in your exam preparation. There are a couple of subscriptions that will be very helpful. The first being the all-essential Azure subscription, which gives you access to the technologies in focus on the AZ-700 exam. Nice to have is a Microsoft 365 E5 trial, which will give you access to the full range of Microsoft identity and security features to compliment that Azure subscription. And don't worry, even when a credit card is involved, Microsoft will never charge your card at the end of a trial without first confirming your approval, so you have nothing to worry about in that process. Now, because AZ-700 touches on hybrid networking technologies, there are a couple of things we should note here. Some topics, like site-to-site VPN and ExpressRoute, require potentially expensive network hardware. In fact, ExpressRoute requires a third-party connectivity provider, and in both cases, you're going to need some free public IP addresses. In these scenarios, hands-on lab testing may be impractical or even impossible for you if you're testing from home. So to bridge that gap, where possible, I will provide a link to Microsoft Learn simulations that provide a process walk-through to give you some perspective on those configuration experiences. So whether you're preparing in your well-equipped corporate lab environment or preparing for AZ-700 from home, you should be well provided for in either case.
