- [Instructor] Implement a data retention policy. There are a few key factors to take into account. First, there are different types of data that you need to consider. There are the durations that you need to consider when you're thinking about how to retain data. And there's also security measures. What are the security measures that are important? And then finally, confidentiality measures. So let's go ahead and take a look at all four of these really quickly. The first step is personally identifiable information. So what is it that's really important to be aware of in terms of the identifiable information as a name, an address? What is the social security number or date of birth that's stored in your system? And do you actually need to store those things inside of your system? And can you actually get rid of them? Also, the duration of retention is a key fact.
