(gentle music) - [Instructor] Imagine walking into your office, and instead of showing an ID card or typing a password, a camera just looks at your face and the door opens. That's where the facial recognition comes in action. In this video, I'm going to show how facial recognition actually works. The very first thing the system does is find and detect the face in an image or video. This means it separates your face from everything else in the background and pinpoints exactly where it is in the frame. Then it measures the facial features. The system measures key features of your face. It looks at things like the distance between your eyes, the shape of your jawline, and the position of your nose and lips. These are called nodal points, and every person has a unique set of them. Once those features are measured, the system creates a face template. It's kind of like a digital version of your face.
