I've always wanted to return to Songwriting and this excellent course proves that I got most things right in my songs, but I now realize that I have to go back and fix some others! I still have the first book that I bought in the early seventies, titled, How to Write a Hit Song... and Sell It by Tommy Boyce, forward by Melvin Powers, and The Craft of Lyric Writing by Sheila Davis, as it pleases me to learn from other professional instructors.
This is a great short course that I highly recommend.

He then discusses five rules for melodies, including why you should keep melodies simple, unique, and accessible, and how to make them more memorable with repetition. The last five rules tackle familiar song structures and tips for shortening sections of songs.
