Limitations of ad duplication

Last updated: 2 weeks ago

You can duplicate ads in Classic ad sets to create variations of your ads or to quickly reuse your existing ads in other ad sets.

Who can use this feature?

You must have access to both the ad account and the associated LinkedIn Page to duplicate ads. On your ad account, you must have creative manager access or higher. On your Page, you must have super admin, content admin, or Sponsored Content poster access.

Depending on your needs, you can duplicate ads to add them to other ad sets, or you can duplicate ads while creating or editing a ad set. For example:

  • If you have high-performing ads that you would like to add to other new or existing ad sets, you can duplicate them to quickly add them to other ad sets.
  • If you need to create multiple ad variations within the same ad set, you can duplicate an ad to quickly make small changes.

Important to know

You can’t duplicate an organic post that was sponsored or boosted from a LinkedIn Page, but you can reuse it in other ad sets.

Depending on the ad format of the creative you'd like to duplicate, you might need to ensure the ad set objectives match. Single image, video, and carousel ads can be duplicated between ad sets regardless of the ad set objective, but other ad formats must be duplicated into ad sets with the same objective. For example, while you can duplicate single image ads into other ad sets regardless of the objective, you can only duplicate event ads into ad sets with the same objective.

See the table below for more information about whether or not the ad set objective must match when duplicating ads.

Ad format Can duplicate across objectives  Must match objective to duplicate
