Our CEO Tim Stuart spoke with the Center for Data Innovation about how we're using computer vision, sensors, and machine learning to identify and separate recyclables at scale. Over time, our AI-powered sortation technology advances a more circular system where more materials are captured, reused, and kept out of landfills. https://lnkd.in/gksNhayZ

Our partnership with the Southeastern Public Service Authority represents a scalable model for modern waste management, with #artificialintelligence, #automation, and #infrastructure working together to make #recycling universal, cost-effective, and environmentally impactful for entire regions. By deploying AI-enabled processing at scale, South Hampton Roads will extend landfill life into the next century, helping to avoid costly future expansions, and substantially increase recycling and organics diversion. We’ve signed a 20-year contract with the Southeastern Public Service Authority of Virginia to provide solid waste processing services—boosting recycling rates and landfill diversion—for SPSA’s eight member communities. Building on a nearly two-year pilot project in Portsmouth, we’ll now scale our technology region-wide. Under this long-term partnership, which will facilitate the largest recycling project in the country, we’ll deploy additional municipal solid waste sortation lines and an organics management system capable of processing 540,000 tons annually to divert half of the waste SPSA brings to AMP facilities. Dennis Bagley, SPSA executive director, explains the significance: “This project will enable us to improve how we manage waste from the communities we serve, turning all 1.2 million residents into active recyclers, while doubling the life of our landfill. This technology is demonstrating that there are effective ways to recover valuable resources from the trash, and we're proud to be on the cutting edge of providing high-quality and transparent waste management services.” Read our announcement: https://lnkd.in/gVGqQX5M

We're applying #AI-powered sortation at scale to modernize the world's #recycling #infrastructure and maximize the value in waste—helping waste companies and municipalities increase recycling and diversion rates. Our AI platform has identified well over 200 billion objects, and our systems have processed 2.8 million tons of recyclables. With three full-scale facilities and more than 400 AI systems deployed across North America, Asia, and Europe, our technology offers a transformational solution to waste sortation and shifts the economics of recycling. Happy #AmericaRecyclesDay!

Americans overwhelmingly believe #recycling is important — 87% of U.S. adults say so, according to survey data released by Keep America Beautiful® — yet the national recycling rate hovers around 32%. At AMP, we're working to turn that strong sentiment into real impact. Using AI-driven sortation at scale, we recover valuable materials, reduce landfill burden, and cut emissions — enabling more sustainable growth and offering a replicable win-win for communities and waste systems alike. #AmericaRecycles
