might be useful for bulk changing images within the media library, but not of any use when trying to change an image via the post editor.. a nice replace option would be wonderful.. but as it is not much use for myself on single posts – using latest version of wordpress which i think is 6.8.3

    Edited..

damn.. just found out that the images i was trying to change were set for some reason set as ‘custom urls’ despite been in the media library (maybe due to using the auto insert plugin from content from another website?), if set directly to the media library then a replace option in latest wordpress automatically appears anyway.. my ERROR.

changed the star rating to 5/5 for just batch editing in the media library cuz latest wordpress if an image is properly set to the media library offers a replace option anyway..

    Hello @platinumshore ,

You can already do this while being in the Post Editor by clicking Add image > Clicking any image you want to replace in your media library > Replace Media

    Screenshot: https://prnt.sc/jO7zh-tef1rG

This will basically replace the image you choose while you’re within the Post Editor.

You can also replace individual images while being outside the Post Editor by going to your Media Library > Clicking any image > Replace Media

Please also note that this plugin is provided and supported completely for free, so hopefully you’ll be able to update your review if my steps have helped!

thanks Adrian, but i was referring editing a specific image in a post – because if you have thousands of images finding the specific one in the media library that happens to be in one post to then Media Library > Clicking any image > Replace Media would potentially be slower than just deleting the existing image and re-adding the new image from scratch.. But if you specifically wanted to use the media library eg batch process then yes to others would be useful, but for replacing images for myself via editing it’s somewhat slow process. Sorry. Perhaps 2 stars was a bit low.. maybe 3… depends on usage… if happy to find files in media library to then edit.. then yeah full stars. Just my view.

sorry Adrian but you said “This will basically replace the image you choose while you’re within the Post Editor.” – some confusion as when i click on an image already in a post i do not get the media library shown in your screen capture it shows the current image with attributes.. if i try to add a NEW image into a post then yes it does (plus option to upload as a tab) but not on clicking an existing image.. only way I could use this plugin to replace an image would be to copy the image file name, come out of the post, via dashboard go to the media library, search on the filename and then select replace.. not as convenient as say a replace button when clicking on an existing image.. or something very unique with the site working on.. anyhow thanks for the fast response.. but for batch replacing images would give 5 out of 5.

    Hi again, @platinumshore ,

We didn’t have any requests for this feature so this is most likely why we don’t have it yet, but giving a free plugin a bad review because it doesn’t have a specific feature for your use case feels a bit unfair.

It’s okay though, I’ve noted it down so we could add it in a future plugin update! 🙂

    All the best,

i have changed the star rating to 3 out of 5 – but for myself i cannot say it can go much higher, for basic replacing images in existing posts, for reasons given.. but it’s an excellent free plugin for other tasks like batch editing, so yeah 2 out of 5 stars was probably unfair.
