For the Shop page (the grid of all products) – see this screenshot – https://app.screencast.com/ZQdiPWtXpC40h – you can set the image aspect ratio directly in the block settings. You can find more details here – https://surecart.com/docs/product-list-guide-shop-page/
There isn’t one “ideal” size – pick the aspect ratio that fits your design and keep it consistent across all images.
