    Hi Oliver Juhas
The Enable bbPress for Block Themes plugin is a great, lightweight, low-resource of host plugin.
Personally, I would like to sincerely thank you for producing this plugin.

My site uses the latest WordPress 6.8.2 version with the Block Theme 2025 template, which I use your plugin to display the forum.

The problem with the forum is that:

When you enter a word or phrase in the forum search, it gives the error:

    public_html/wp-includes/block-template.php on line 180

    in the header of site.

I think it is related to the block-template.php file.

If possible, I would like to request you to include a feature in your plugin that would fix this problem.

I appreciate your help in advance

@robin-w Thank you for the help!

@ar_m I’m glad you’ve resolved the issue and thank you for the information about the cause of the issue (the Content block). Indeed, the plugin is modifying output of the Post Content block so it correctly displays bbPress information. I will look into the issue and will release a fix in the plugin update.

As for WordPress 6.8 compatibility, yes, the plugin is compatible, I just haven’t updated the plugin’s readme.txt info for WordPress plugin repository. I will do so in an update soon.

I’ll let you know when the plugin update is ready.

    Hi @ar_m,

I’m sorry, I still can not replicate the issue. Here is what I’ve done to try to replicate your situation:

    1. Using default WordPress installation with Twenty Twenty-Five theme, I installed and activated bbPress and Enable bbPress for Block Themes plugins. I populated the website with some example posts, forums, topics and replies.
    2. I’ve edited the theme’s archive template in Site Editor and replaced the (Post) Content (wp:post-content) block with (Post) Excerpt (wp:post-excerpt) block (is this what you mean in your reply by “…replaced it with a summary block…”?).
    3. Then I tested displaying of default WordPress archive pages, default posts search and also forum search and tags. Everything works perfectly fine for me.

Please note that forum search and tags work well for me even when I use Post Excerpt block in the archive template. I do not have to reset the archive template to the theme’s original.

Is this correct procedure to try to replicate your issue?

If this is not what you meant by your comment, please describe the issue in more details so I can replicate it and check if it is related to my plugin’s code, so I can fix it then.

Please also answer these questions so I can trace the cause of the issue:

    • Can you check your other plugins please?
There might be a plugin installed on your website that modifies the post excerpt, which is subsequently causing the issue. So the issue may not be related to my plugin or the theme templates (and blocks used in them).
    • Can you try to disable all plugins (except bbPress and Enable bbPress for Block Themes plugin) on your website and test then?
You can do so by using Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin as mentioned in moderator’s comment.
    • Can you provide exported theme I can test?
(As mentioned in my previous reply.) That way I can test purely with your theme setup and basic plugins so we should be able to say if the issue is caused by 3rd party plugin.

    Thank you.

    Hi @ar_m,

Finally, I was able to reproduce the issue and fix it in the plugin! Please update the plugin to version 1.0.1 to fix the issue on your website.

    Explanation:
Not sure why, but the PHP errors only occurred when I edited the archive template via Site Editor – the PHP error was not triggered when editing theme files directly. Nevertheless, the issue was actually related to missing/empty post type information and the plugin was adding archive-.php into the template hierarchy, which is incorrect and was causing an issue.

Thank you again for reporting this issue and providing valuable debug information so I could fix the plugin’s code!

    Best regards,

    Oliver

    Hi @webmandesign

Thank you for the recent update of the plugin.

This update fixed a few major issues.

First, it is now possible to easily remove the content block in the archive template and replace it with a summary block. The lack of this caused horizontal scrolling in the display of posts in some navigation menus.

Second and most importantly, the problem with displaying search results and topics connected to tags has been completely resolved and the two lines of code mentioned at the beginning of this topic are no longer displayed.

    Wishing you continued success
