Hi,
Thanks for using WPS Hide Login.
This plugin lets you change the login page URL to help protect your site from bots trying brute-force attacks on the default /wp-login.php.
Please note, it doesn’t hide or change the WordPress admin area (/wp-admin).
Regards.
Hey. Yes, I know what the plugin does, Im using it for years (and it’s great btw) — I might not have expressed myself clearly. We had a different URL than /wp-admin or /wp-login thanks to it, but that URL stopped working (it redirected to a 404 with a message saying the page didn’t exist on the server). The wp-admin gave the same error, and wp-login redirected to our custom 404.
After disabling the plugin via FTP, everything went back to normal (wp-admin and wp-login were accessible again), but the error came back when I reinstalled WPS Hide Login.
So I’m reaching out here while waiting to be able to reactivate it.
Cheers,
Thanks for your response, I understand now!
Do you have a caching plugin on your site, and have you excluded the login URL from being cached?
@chaaampy, I had similar issues and solved it by prepending the new login folder name with a “?”.
my test folder name was partytime
so I used https://mysiteabc.xyz/?partytime and it worked.
