• 6.9 Beta 1 on Theme “Twenty Twenty-Five”

    1. I used the new “Duplicate” option to make a copy of “Pages” Template
    2. The copy appeared as expected in Created templates (Status “Inactive”)
    3. I clicked on the Duplicate, made some changes and saved the template.
    4. Problem: The duplicate of Pages template replaced regular Pages Template in all my webpages! – Which was never intended, initiated or even confirmed!

  • Hello @burnuser,

Thanks for reporting this. You’ve hit a potential critical bug in 6.9 Beta 1 where a duplicated and modified Pages Template incorrectly overrides the original, default Pages Template sitewide.

This is likely due to an issue with template resolution priority or internal naming/slug conflicts in the new “Duplicate” feature when saving the template.Immediate Action & Workaround

    1. Delete the Duplicate: Go to Appearance > Editor > Templates. Locate your duplicated, custom Pages Template and delete it. This should force WordPress to revert all pages to using the original, core Pages Template.
    2. Report the Bug: Please report this issue on the official WordPress Trac (or beta channel) immediately, detailing your steps (Duplicate -> Edit -> Save) and the version (6.9 Beta 1, Twenty Twenty-Five theme).

This is a key issue that needs to be resolved before the final release.
