• First time working with multisite and after days of google and testing plugins, still havent found the sollution. I have a multisite with 3 subsites ( https://prinsessegaardene.dk/margrethegaarden/). My main goal was to copy the entire main site, so theme, menus etc.. was identical setup on each sumsite, so i could just change the menu names and text. but even tho the theeme is active on each site, its not really working and i cant find a proper pluging to migrate with (prefer if its free or 1 time pay). Hope it makes sense, thanks in advance

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • @barneyboy112 One thing to understand about multisite is that by default each subsite functions as a completely separate site as far as content. That said, there are some plugins where you can duplicate content between sites. Search the repository for “multisite duplicate content”. BUT, you should be aware that Google will penalize you as far as SEO when you duplicate site content in this way.

Thank you for the feedback. I dont min setting it up for each subsite then, but i still dont get why the theme/template dont apply on the subsites, when it says active for each site. Its all plain white and when i create a menu, i can see the theme in dashboard and even “adjust” in it, but the colour and setup isnt preset, it just create a plain black and white menu

@barneyboy112 I checked your site once again and it looks like you are using Astra theme is that correct ? From my knowledge it’s a very multisite-friendly and stable theme overall.. so there should not cause too much pain in particular to set it up… You will need to create the settings on each subsite however.. that’s why most probably you are seeing the “white”..

Try going into Appearance > Customize on one of your subsites and see if the theme options are there .

IF you cannot see those, it mighit be that the theme is enabled only on certain subsites and not network enabled.. To check this go to: Network Admin > Themes and make sure Astra is network-enabled (not just activated on individual sites)

Of course, last things to check are caching (maybe some caching layer is preventing these c hanges to be applied correctly).. While performing all the above actions I suggested, make sure you check for any console errors in your browsers and feel free to share those with us (screenshots would be ideal, while censoring any possible sensitive data).

For this Open your subsite and press F12 to open developer tools. Check the Console tab for any errors loading CSS files

Yes it is Astra, well spotted:-D, i Choose it exatly because it should be multisite friendly. I can see and customize it on each subsite. (added pictures)

“You will need to create the settings on each subsite however.. that’s why most probably you are seeing the “white”..” – Did i miss it somewhere, been looking thru mainsite and subsite dashboard and couldnt find any function for that . – Is it in the WP-config file i would have to change something more?

Also added picture of network settings

@barneyboy112 Great, thanks for the screenshots.. everything looks good , no errors. that’s a good sign.

What I meant by “create the settings on each subsite” is exactly what you’re doing in 1st screenshot , using the Customizer (Appearance > Customize) to set up colors, fonts, layouts, header/footer, etc. There’s no special config file needed.

Since you can see and customize Astra on each subsite, the theme itself is working fine., so the “plain white” issue you mentioned earlier is probably because each subsite starts with default/blank Astra settings until you configure them.

    A couple of things that might speed this up now;

    1. I found this free plugin online after doing some quick lookup – https://wordpress.org/plugins/customizer-export-import/ Some plugins like “Customizer Export/Import” can help you export settings from your main site and import them to subsites (saves you from manually recreating everything).
    2. Is it the entire site that appears white, or just missing specific styling? If the whole site is blank, that might be a different issue (like a plugin conflict or PHP error)

Can you clarify: when you say “plain white,” do you mean the frontend shows absolutely nothing, or just that it’s using default/unstyled Astra settings? A screenshot of what you’re seeing on the frontend would be helpful..

Also I hope the above might provide a “quicker” solution to this..

to me it look like the whole site, I did jeg try make a new headline, and saw this under console.

If you’re using WordPress Multisite, themes don’t automatically copy settings, menus, or customizer options to subsites. Activating the same theme isn’t enough. You need a cloning tool.

    For a free/one-time solution, try:

    • NS Cloner (free) – Best free option to clone a site inside a multisite.
    • Multisite Clone Duplicator (free) – Also works but older.
    • WP Ultimo (paid one-time) – More advanced, but not needed unless you want full control.

These plugins will properly duplicate your main site so all theme settings, menus, widgets, and layouts appear on the subsites.
