📦 Returns are a £25 billion opportunity. 📦 Richard Lim, CEO of Retail Economics, wrote a fantastic article for Drapers that highlighted some of the key findings from our joint research into the top 100 UK retailers and their returns processes. • We were delighted to be nominated for the Tech Innovator of the Year award at the Drapers Awards 2025. However, we are even more thrilled that The Very Group, a ZigZag client, deservedly picked up the accolade instead. It is a fantastically innovative company, always exploring ways to improve the shopping experience for its customers, with a friendly team we thoroughly enjoy working alongside. Congratulations to some other brilliant brands including FOOTASYLUM, Nobody's Child, Primark, Barbour, ACS (Advanced Clothing Solutions), US POLO ASSN, Marks and Spencer, and many more. With just two weeks to go until Black Friday, here are 5 tips for surviving and thriving this peak season. 🗓️ Extend your returns policy beyond 30 days to reduce parcels coming back all at once, ensuring your warehouse team and carriers aren't overwhelmed with parcels. 💸 Explore refunding loyal customers earlier in the journey or offering refunds to store credit. 🎯 Target serial returners and monitor for fraudulent behaviour. Free returns might be the given in peak, but you can still charge the policy abusers. 🖨️ Provide plenty of convenient return options like the Post Office, lockers, and 24/7 supermarkets as well as paperless options for those without printers. 🔍 Make your returns policy clear and easy to find on your website so your Customer Service Teams isn't inundated with frustrated and confused customers. Speak to one of our returns experts today to find out how you can better manage your peak season returns >> https://lnkd.in/e-uBGF_Q #Returns #PeakReturns #eCommerce #Retail

¡Olé! 💃 Our latest research with ZigZag Global takes us to Spain and the findings hit close to home. The Annual Returns Benchmark España 2025 report reveals that online returns in Spain are set to exceed €13.3 billion next year as ecommerce continues to grow rapidly across the market. Behind the numbers: ▪️ “Devolutores reincidentes y tardíos” - Serial and Slow Returners - represent just a quarter of shoppers but drive almost half (47%) of all returns. ▪️ Speed matters: around one in three Spanish shoppers (32%) take more than ten days to send items back, yet still expect refunds within five. That gap creates huge operational pressure, retailers are left managing slow returns but fast expectations. ▪️ Over a third of Gen Z admit to ordering multiple sizes with the intention to return, turning their home into el probador (the fitting room). ▪️ And while half of shoppers say any fee would put them off, two in three frequent returners would pay a small charge, mirroring trends we’ve seen in the UK as retailers rethink “free” returns. Spain’s retail market dynamics may differ to the UK, but the challenge around returns feels very familiar, balancing cost, convenience and customer loyalty in a post-purchase world where margins are tight and expectations are rising. 👉 Explora el informe completo aquí: https://lnkd.in/ex6iPHQa

  • ZigZag's Lee Barwin was recently interviewed by CIM | The Chartered Institute of Marketing! The feature explored cases where companies could be justified in pushing back against customers, particularly when combatting serial returners, without disregarding the need to make policies fair for consumers. Our recent research found that the number of serial returners may have actually dropped since 2024 as retailers start targeting abusive returns behaviour and introducing fees. The full article is available to members of the CIM through the Catalyst Magazine. https://lnkd.in/ertNJ8_R For our most recent research, you can download it straight from our website >> https://lnkd.in/euSPFgcR #Returns #eCommerce #ReverseLogistics #Retail #RetailTech

  • What type of returner are you? We surveyed 2,000 consumers in our latest survey and separated them into 4 returner personas based on how they behave during the returns process. 🌑 𝗢𝗰𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿 - Rarely returns items unless they fail to meet expectations. 🎯 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿 - Promptly returns items, typically only returning a small percentage, and returns a moderate amount. 🐇 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿 - Frequently over-orders with the intention of returning many items. 🐢 𝗦𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿 - Tends to delay returns, sometimes for weeks, and returns a fairly high amount. Less people were willing to admit they were a Serial Returner this year, perhaps due to retailers getting tougher on returner in 2025! Read the report to discover more on the 4 returner cohorts and strategies for managing them as well as how the UK's top 100 retailers are shaping their returns experiences.
