This is a senior opportunity for experienced professionals who want to make a meaningful contribution to protecting and promoting children’s rights in Ireland. As part of the OCO’s Complaints and Investigations Team, you’ll lead impartial and thorough investigations under the Ombudsman for Children Act. Your work will directly influence how public bodies, schools, and health services engage with children and families, helping ensure accountability and fairness across Ireland’s public sector. In this role, you’ll: - Examine and investigate complaints under Sections 8 and 9 of the Ombudsman for Children Act - Gather and analyse evidence through research, document review and interviews - Engage with children to understand their experiences and perspectives - Make balanced, evidence-based findings and recommendations - Write clear, accessible investigation reports on complex matters - Contribute to annual reports, systemic investigations, and policy development We’re looking for candidates who have: - A Level 8 qualification in a relevant discipline - At least five years’ experience evaluating or analysing complex issues - Strong understanding of legislation, policy and public administration affecting children in Ireland - Demonstrated commitment to the rights and welfare of children - Excellent analytical, communication and report-writing skills - Experience in public investigations, regulatory environments, or legal/policy analysis will be an advantage. The Office of the Ombudsman for Children (OCO) is recruiting Early Resolution Officers (Executive Officer level) to help ensure every child’s voice is heard and acted upon. This is a meaningful opportunity for empathetic, detail-oriented professionals to support children and families across Ireland by resolving complaints about public services quickly, fairly and compassionately. As part of the OCO’s Complaints and Investigations Team, you’ll: - Receive and assess complaints made by or on behalf of children - Engage with public bodies such as the HSE, Tusla, schools and local authorities. - Conduct early resolution work to achieve fair outcomes. - Manage a caseload of complaints efficiently and accurately. - Support investigations and quality improvement. - Ensure full compliance with child protection policies and procedures.
